Watch Description

In Italy, when I was a child, a commercial on TV had an electrical voice that used to say "Bulova Accutron. L'orologio dell'era spaziale... ale... ale... ale (echo)". It sounded disquieting for a child. But I was incredibly attracted by this magical machine you could see through. Forty years later I remembered of that commercial and I searched for that watch. My curiosity opened up a whole world still attended by thousands of fans all over the world. Buying an original Spaceview or a conversion was my doubt. I did not want to be fooled, since I wanted to buy a vintage piece. Hugh Henegar, a friendly and honest seller also known on ebay as Mowatch, may he rest in peace now, three years ago sold me this watch with these words: "Nobody will ever fool you. The Bulova Accutron machine could never be imitated by anyone. You could be fooled if the machine inside was not a Bulova Accutron. This watch you are buying from me is a conversion I made. In the past, these conversions were done by many Bulova dealers after they realized that the Spaceviews were more attractive to their customers". He convinced me. Dial or not, it's a Bulova Accutron from 1968. I can see through its crystal. In my opinion I got a Spaceview. I got l'orologio dell'era spaziale... ale... ale... ale (echo). Anyway. My 16 year old son, casting an eye on this picture I am posting, says that this watch has got a "robot face" like the Transformers. "It looks funny" he says.  Should I punish him ? So much the worse for him. When I die he will inherit all my watches but this one. Or else, when he dresses up to go out with a girl I won't allow him to put it on and look smart. "Put on your crappy Swatch and go by bus".

Definately a Conversion as there is no Chapter ring.

As nice as it is I'm confused as how to rate the Watch ID'd as a Spaceview?

You are right! I sadly reckon that maybe it is only an exemple of this kind of well made conversions.

I changed the ID accordingly.

This should either be listed as a 'Non-conforming' or an Accutron.
