I hoping someone may be able to help me!
I have my late Dad’s Bulova watch. He worked for Kay Jewelers in Lancaster PA for 38 plus years - so I am assuming that is were it got it. I just had it service and tried it get more info on it but no luck.
Bulova watch - number on back says f607840, M8 - but I cannot get to the inside movement.
Thank you for posting your Dad's watch. This is one of my favorites. It is a 1968 Bulova Sea King "ES" like this one https://mybulova.com/watches/1969-sea-king-es-12017 It should have a 17J movement like an 11BLC.

Sea Kings date all the way back to the early 1950's. It appears the use of the "whale" on the dial started circa 1967 - 68, lasted to perhaps 1972 and wasn't used on all models, or even all watches of the same variant in the same year.
At some point, the whale went from being the "Sea King" Symbol to being a sporadically used indication of "Waterproof". HERE is a 1970 Beau Brummell sporting a whale. Bulova is always full of surprises......
