Watch Description

Back and movement both marked M9. Lume dots at indices and lumed hands. I'm at a bit of a loss on this one. It's too late to be a "23" and doesn't seem to be a match to anything else I can find. It seems like it should be a Date King or perhaps a President by casing and face, but the jewel count is the issue. It appears this is a first for the Db. Searching 23 jewels in the mid to late 60's came up empty. Whatsit?

Nice looking watch.  I haven't found a match for it yet.

I haven't looked at the mens 60's and 70's watch lines enough to be of much help but I did find this ad from 1969 that has a 23-jewel calendar automatic and the ad does have names so even though this isn't the exact watch maybe it is something in that line?  Actually zooming in it does look pretty close.

Listed as 'Bulova 23-Jewel Calendar Automatic'.

Could be from the Date King or Presidents series.

I am unable to find this particular design in any of the ads. Certainly Date King could be an option, as would Sea King or Time Center - as those also had 30 jewel calendar models.

I'm at Unknown model at this time.

I'm going legalistic here too. I agree that this is a Sea King, there is no question. The line book presented shows the BN variant as having a Russet Alligator Strap which this watch does not. I do not think it can be tagged a BN variant

Thanks Geoff.  Probably a BN with a leather strap replaced with an expansion bracelet.

Will need to check the linebooks to see if this combination came with varying mounts. If it's the only style to match I'd say we are safe to say it's the "BN" variant.
