Watch Description

An inheritance from my grandfather. The watch has little wear since he only brought it out for special occasions. The case is 37.5mm across diagonal, 36mm across at the crown, 38mm at the lugs, and 11mm thick including the domed acrylic crystal. The sides and scallops of the case are polished, as is the signed bracelet. The front of the case has a radial brushed pattern. The dial has a fine vertical line pattern and indicies are applied (including the day/date surround). The crown is unsigned. The case back reads '10KT Rolled Gold Plate Back' and 'Gold Electroplated Bezel', and N2 (1972). The case has not been opened because it keeps good time so I'm unsure which movement it uses.  Unfortunately the box and paperwork are long gone, so I have no idea what model it is. I've seen an identical dial and hands on a 1972 Sea King, but I have not seen another Bulova with the same case shape. I'm leaning towards it being a Senator, but that's a guess.

What a lovely heirloom from your grandfather!  I looked through the ads from the late 60s through the 70s and didn't find a match.

Unknown for now.

A wonderful watch and quite unique. Like most unique shaped Bulova watches, I always think I've seen them before in an advert at somepoint over the last 10+ years.

I'll keep looking for this one.

It's good to know the experts are stumped too - I thought I was going crazy by not being able to identify it.

Have found a watch with similar specs with the whale symbol and day/date combo, 23J with same hands....case is cushion....and is a Senator.....giving us a hint that the whale logo was used on other models other than the Sea King.

Still looking.

I have not found any matches in our ads. This is a very handsome style, but Unknown model at this time.
