Watch Description

An inheritance from my grandfather. The watch has little wear since he only brought it out for special occasions. The case is 37.5mm across diagonal, 36mm across at the crown, 38mm at the lugs, and 11mm thick including the domed acrylic crystal. The sides and scallops of the case are polished, as is the signed bracelet. The front of the case has a radial brushed pattern. The dial has a fine vertical line pattern and indicies are applied (including the day/date surround). The crown is unsigned. The case back reads '10KT Rolled Gold Plate Back' and 'Gold Electroplated Bezel', and N2 (1972). The case has not been opened because it keeps good time so I'm unsure which movement it uses.  Unfortunately the box and paperwork are long gone, so I have no idea what model it is. I've seen an identical dial and hands on a 1972 Sea King, but I have not seen another Bulova with the same case shape. I'm leaning towards it being a Senator, but that's a guess.

I'm quite late, but thank you for the match Jim! The bracelet definitely isn't original, but I wouldn't be surprised if the clasp was swapped onto the JB Champion bracelet at some point. I recently got the watch back from servicing and can confirm that there's a 23 jewel 11AOACB in there.

1972 Jet Clipper 'E'

A friend with access to a Bulova linebook provided the attached image that appears to provide an alternate identification for this watch - as a Jet Clipper 'E'. Interestingly, the JB Champion bracelet appears to be original rather than a replacement as I originally thought.

I've also been able to confirm the movement is an 11AOACB, which is typical for the era and feature set.

I just revisited this post, as I bought one identical to subject watch sporting the same band and dated 1972. The only ad I find identifying this as "President" is the one Jim uploaded, showing the watch on a different band with the stock number 12902Y. Linebook entry is dated 1973 and gives stock number as 12002-2Y, and said reference book doesn't include "President".

I suspect the watch was first released for a short time early in 1972 as President ($84.95) on the alternate band and renamed "Jet Clipper E" late 1972 with a different  and better band installed that bumped up one digit of the code number and the price to $110.00. Based on the band, I agree that this is a

Jet Clipper "E"

I'll upload mine when it arrives.

Just thinking out loud, I wonder if the name change on what would have been a new model release had anything to do with the break of the Nixon / Watergate scandal of late 1972? It appears that the watch on the far right in the President ad also was renamed as Jet Clipper "F" in late 1972 for 1973.
