IT HAS A 2 PART CASE!
Call me suprised... I was tooling around ebay... looking to shark a watch when I saw this Corrigan ad...
cgi.ebay.com/Bulova-Fifth-Ave-17-Jewels-Manual-Wind-Gentleman-Watch-/280604306793
The watch itself is pretty dirty and in rougher shape... but in one of the pictures below it showed the case in two pieces... I was like *jaw drop*... I didn't even take the straps off mine so I run to my watch box and yes.. low and behold... same thing.
Crazy eh?
Now I understand why my Corrigan has those big screws for the lugs... it's to keep the two parts of the case together.... I'm wondering if that extra lug link is then for the strap and that if mines missing it or it was an option?
Oh My God did I learn this one the hard way. Was wearing my Corrigan - just back from my watchmaker for a clean and oil. Took a looonnnggg walk with my wife after work, got almost home, checked the time......and it..... was..... GONE!!!!! That piece had jumped right off my watch. Spent the next 45 minutes kicking through piles of leaves and ended up finding it on my FRONT PORCH. NOW my watch guy says he can put on.....I think he called them "Gucci" pins ( the ones with the little screw heads)......or glue it down. I chose the glue, the screws don't look right to me..........of course I don't dare wear the watch any more now......well maybe to church.......It has pin holes all the way through, so I can only guess that the old syle pins went all the way through to hold it down, no hinges.....just the holes and it snaps off REALLY easy.
