I am a newbie to the hobby of watch repair, and a newbie in this forum. I don't find this watch elsewhere on this site. My wife found this watch at a Goodwill sale. I've cleaned it and got it running again. The band, obviously, is not original. I replaced the cracked crystal, and gently cleaned the dial. The sub second hand is missing. Can one of you experts please advise me what size sub second hand I need for this and where to find it? What style of sub second hand would complete this watch appropriately?

Eric,
If you click on the information tab at the top of the page, and then click on "Bulova Catalogs", the list will have a 1959 edition of the Bulova catalog of interchangeable parts, and you should be able to find the part number there for a sub-seconds hand that fits your movement...and just maybe someone on here will have one to spare.

From what you experts have so graciously taught me, I conclude that I need part #65GD. Part #65 refers to the sub second hand which would fit on the model 11AC. The "G" is for the gold color of the hand, and the "D" is for Dauphine style. I continue to sniff about for that part, but so far with no luck.
Obviously, I far prefer to complete this repair with a "just right" sub second hand. But if I cannot find one, is there a resource to tell me the proper length, height, and tube diameter of the part, so that I might be able to implant a properly fitting substitute?
If/when I can complete the repair, I'll upload a better photograph of this Webster, so that y'all who have helped me so much can also enjoy it.
As I progress in this--for me--hobby, I keep thinking that I have made every rookie error imaginable, but I find that there are more mistakes I had never considered!
Thank you for your cordial and helpful suggestions--Eric
I have completed my repair of this watch, putting in a sub second hand. You will see the finished product as image #4. Since my pleasure comes from repairing watches rather than collecting them, I'm likely to sell this now. What is the proper custom of doing that in this forum? Does one list it on ebay and just post an announcement of that here, or is that considered discourteous to this forum?

Hi echevlen Nice job finishing off the restore. What you can do if you would like to list for sale on MyBulova is go into the "edit" tab of this record and check off the little box "for sale". You'll get a message requesting a buck be sent to the site for site maintenance and purchasing new vintage ads. Once that's done, your watch will show up among the "for sale" image queue on the main home page. Good exposure for selling this great Webster. If you do list on eBay, it's site policy that we don't make direct references to active listing, but the fact that you have it in the "for sale" queue may infer it could be for sale "elsewhere" too :) Thanks for entering and updating this record. Great watch.
Good news! I found the original second hand for this watch, and I have replaced the baton style substitute that I had used to repair this watch. Now it has the original Dauphine type second hand, which matches the minute and hour hands. I've posted a photo of it as image #5 above. I'm so pleased to have restored this beauty to its original format and condition. Thanks to all you Bulova nuts for your encouragement.
