This is in the Military style with the enclosed case. The crystal is removed from the front giving access to the movement. I know we've been calling these Military but they're not stamped in the back so hopefully we can find a civilian name for this watch. I think this is a rarer black dial as I haven't seen a black dialed model of this watch until this one and numrous white ones. The crown is missing and it needs an extreme clean soon. This one will be taking a trip to Timemachines. I also have a white dialed one on the way and will post them side by side when I can.

Hey Plains,
I've come across a few of these, very similar to the watertite but these were manufactured overseas for the european market, hence the stainless case. A word of caution with these, keep the original crystal. Finding the proper replacement is near impossible! If that's a split stem I may have the other half with crown, seems I recall having 2-3 of these without a decent crystal ! I'd Have to dig but looks way too familiar to me.

Johnny Weisemiller played Tarzan in 1948 when i was a 7 year old kid. The following ad is from the 1930 dated data base ads. That is very hard to believe it's properly dated. The watch in the ad shows a sub-second dial. 1940 or later I believe & would say yes to WATERTITE. Plains & I have sweep second hands.
