I appreciate all of the work everyone does on this website. My question is since the website collects all of the Bulova watch models reported by members is there a master list of models that lists the number of watches reported by serial number. The serial number can remain confidential but it would be really interesting to see how many reported by model. That way rarity can be documented.

In reply to Thanks Kathy. So I checked by JimDon5822
Correct.
The list by no means shows the menufacture numbers or rarity of a particular watch, juts how many we have entered into the system. However with that said one could imply that those models with a bunch in entries could be said to be common, as oppoesed to a model that only has one entry.
I'm not sure it would be possible to determine rarity of any watch based on the number of examples in the myBulova dB. Certain models are very desirable and therefore are very well represented. On the other hand some names have been in use for decades (eg, President or Senator) and therefore we have many examples posted, yet there may be only one or two of a certain year/style in the dB.
My opinion has always been that Bulova is and was a mass producer of consumer products. If they made one example they likely made thousands. In the case of solid gold watches there does seem to be fewer found but I imagine that the demand was anticipated to be lower so fewer were made.
Accounting for deletions we have around 9,000 watch records, I think far too small a set that could be used for any scientific or academic conclusion. Without actual production records I don't see a way to determine rarity or scarcity of any Bulova watch.
Having said all that I do admit to a certain joy when a 'first' is added. It's exciting to me that we've 'discovered' a previously unknown example.

Again let me say how much I appreciate all that you have done for advancing Bulova watch collecting and history. You all are doing a great service. I have been thinking about a way of creating a cross reference ad database. I think it would be great to be able to look up a model and see all ads that reference it. It would take a lot of work but wouldn't that be awesome. I am willing to discuss it if you would like.
