Picked this up a couple weeks ago from everybody's favorite auction site.
Statesman/Excellency case, 21J 7AK movement with a 48' date stamp. 10 Gold Filled bezel and back.
I thought it might be a redial but after receiving it at taking a look through the loupe, I am not sure.
The back of the dial looks tarnished like original dials do, and you can see slight oxidation spots on the black paint. The Luminous numbers are a bit dingy and do not have much power to them anymore. If it was a redial, it was done some years ago. Any thoughts?
The picture is from the auction and I will try to get better ones up this weekend
In reply to Boy I dunno Greg... that by plainsmen
I was comparing it to 51' Surgeon I have, very comparable condition when they are side by side, and they were still luming dials in 51'

Who knows, it will keep some of my other unknowns company for a while! :-)
Greg,
The plate would need to exist or one would have to be made for the redial to occur, as mentioned the back of the dial is unfinished.
But, the Index style Hands don't seem to fit the theme ?
Interesting as Plainsmen showed a similar Excellency/President cased recently.
