Sky King
Bulova 1931 Sky King
This one will be easy to identify. I'm not 100% sure the movement serial number is correct. My old eyes don't see as well as they used to. It's keeping time very well and I'd like to be wearing it, but the band is just slightly too small to go over my hand. The date symbol on the movement is a chevron but I don't see that in the drop down list.

Bulova 1952 Sky King
What the heck is that? I found this one on ebay and it was one I didn't recognize. It has little stylized wings on the lugs. I went through all the ads from 1945 to 1955 as well as all the short ads from 1940 through 1959 to no avail. Went through the entire database - nada. Finally, out of options, I went to the earliest linebook 1955 - 1957 hoping for a miracle and Bingo! there it was. Did a double take when I saw the ID, and immediately did a buy it now - best offer accepted.
I never would have expected the name. Linebook shows hand written date of 1955 next to illustration and description is overstamped "Discontinued". Not listed in 1956 or 1957. Dealer price is crossed out and reduced, leading me to believe the watch was a marketing flop and by 1955 Bulova was selling off overstock at a reduced price to get rid of them.
Watch has a good balance and will run a few seconds with a shake or flick of the balance wheel and stops. Hopefully it just needs a standard service. Dial is pristine and case shows only the slightest plating "tipping" wear.
I have to believe this is a "hen's teeth" watch.

Bulova 1931 Sky King
Nice 2 tone hinged case showing light high point wear. Hands were replaced and it appears that the dial had the black track and seconds register reprinted at some point in the past. Running a little fast
Looks to me to be a 1931 Sky King. As seen in this ad dated 1930

Bulova 1930 Sky King
Appears to be a 1930 Bulova 'Sky King' alternate case version. The case is in excellent condition as are the original hands. The dial is a little dirty & needs cleaning & the crystal needs to be replaced. The crown may not be original. The watch winds, sets & runs. Inside the case: PAT. JAN. 11-1927 - BULOVA - 14K NEW YORK- 0283098

Bulova 1931 Sky King
Appears to be a 1931 Bulova 'Sky King' with original MAXIM bracelet & presentation box. All are in excellent to mint condition. The only possible anomaly of the watch are the hands. They may be newer but it's hard to tell from the ads. There is no serial # on the movement & it has both a triangle & a square symbol (1935 & 1936) so may not be the original movement? The movement also has U.S.A. inscribed instead of 'SWISS'. The presentation box needs some work to get it functioning correctly. The watch winds, sets & runs.
Inside the case: BULOVA QUALITY - PAT. JAN. 11-1927 - 1083648

Bulova 1930 Sky King
I have bought this Bulova from eBay in Feb. 2021. I did DIY CLA and replaced original (maybe) blue steel main spring by Ronda-Flex NOS white metal spring also from eBay. The FHF logo is engraved on the dial side of the movement, as you see in fig.5.

Bulova 1931 Sky King
I've now had 4 of these Sky Kings, this is the latest. The case is in great shape and it came with its original bracelet. The dial is very "patina'd" and the movement needs service and a new main spring.

Bulova 1930 Sky King
Preliminary diagnosis would be a 1930 Sky King. The movement is a 17 J 10AN, consistent with others in the database. The date code is an omega (1930). The case is marked "Bulova AAA Quality" with a patent date of Jan, 11, 1927. The watch runs and keeps time. Its as I bought it. It could be my imagination but the dial looks to me like its been restored. The style is OK but if you look closely some of the letters and numbers look just a little blotchy at the corners and some of the lines are just a tad uneven in width and not quite level.
