Sky King

My preliminary call would be a Sky King.  I've no idea if this has been restored but it may well have been.  The dial appears to be in particularly nice shape.  Its hard to tell from the picture because I don't have a very steady hand with the camera but the movement date code is a very clear square sheild, not a triangle.

This is my latest "restoration" project and appears to be a 1930 Bulova Sky King.  It is a 14Kt White gold hinged case with yellow gold engraving around the crystal.  The dial is white with yelllow gold applied hour markers and a black printed minute track.  The movement is a 10AN with an Omega date code.  It is missing the dust cover.    The ad seems to show this was a non-radium dial version with "Modern" hands and assumed applied yelloww gold hour markers.   With a two tone case it makes sense that this is how the watch was from the factory. 

A 1932 Bulova Sky King with original two toned bracelet.  The bracelet is rare'er than the watch now!  I've always loved this guy....

Submitted is, I think, a 1931 Sky King.  I'm not 100% sure about the movement symbol.  In the close-up, it looks likea shield pointing at the zero in the serial number.  I'be been having bad luck getting well engraved symbols.

Although I bought the case with dial, I made a new homemade dial until I can to change the radium by luminol.

Is this a Sky King?  I'm not sure, but whatever it is, it's a nice looking watch.

I really love the look of this watch, especially the hands.  Sky King?

Following are the original comments as entered by brother plainsman: Well ladies and gents, I haven't been as excited for a watch to arrive as this one in a looooong while. When I saw it I about choked.... everything looks absolutely legit to me.  Case and movement match. I have no idea if this was a "prototype" Sky King or maybe they made a super short run and this is the first one we've seen. Original matching two tone MAXIM bracelet.  It almost seems NOS.... or sock drawer candidate. I believe we've got here a (wait for it....) ULTRA RARE!!  Bulova wandering seconds Sky King! ]

So did we ever figure out what this one was?  It really doesn't match the Sky King because the top and bottom bezel lacks the vertical striped etching.  Also the etching design isn't the fishes.  What is this?
