...Fifth... I agree there's only an handfull of us collectors out there aware of the first digit of case SN relationship to date of case production (and movement date code symbols).  NOVA's NAWCC 2012 article is the first published journal article citing this coorelation.  ....and she cites you as the one who discovered this coorelationship.

...and the "unique dial pattern match" , well who knows....

If there was a movement swap many years ago, the "swapper" (watchmaker)  had no idea what year the case was manufactured.  ...and most jewelers/watchmakers/serviderers could give a hoot. They wanted to get paid for their work.

I remember the unique dial, and discussion that followed...  Bobbee and others found some nice newspaper ads showing that dial....but dials can be swapped too.

I'm on board for conqueror.  We've ID'd many as tentative with as much "evidence".

...that's why I gave one tick for "Conrad".

Mark - what is the evidence for the Conqueror ID, other than the crystal packet?

Geoff,

The 'CONRAD' ad.

By process of elimination the Watch cannot be the 'CONRAD' the Jewel count is wrong, therefore must be the 'CONQUEROR' .

Sorry Mark, that doesn't work for me, we need a Conqueror ad or this is Unknown.

Or is the the Farragut?

The ad doesn't really show any engraving, but what else is new....

Dialwise, that is a dead ringer, and I'd say tentative Farragut based on this.

It would not be uncommon for the engraved bezel version to be a different name from the Farragut; tentative id also. Really a nice looking watch.

Interestingly it doesn't state the jewel count, so could also be 21 jewels, a though price suggests a 15 or 17 jewelled movement.
