Watch Description

This watch was purchased new by my father in the late 1960s. He was a long haul trucker, so the watch saw a lot of daily wear and tear. The crystal has a lot of scratches, as does the stainless steel case. There are 2 cracks in the crystal, one at the very top edge (between 11 and 1), and the other on the bottom right edge (from 4 to 5). When I was young, I was always fascinated by the look of the SpaceView style, and even more impressed with its hum. My father passed away when I was 16 and I inherited the watch. I wore it through my college years (1978-82) and it went into a drawer after that. The watch ran fine when it was packed away, but it hasn't had a battery in it since then. I'm going to order a new battery for it (Energizer 387S - 1.5v) since I don't believe they still manufacture the original 1.3v battery.

The case has a date code of M6, and the movement appears to have a date code of M7. From what I have been able to find, this difference of one year seems to be fairly common. It appears that the interior is fairly clean.

I truly appreciate the opportunity to become a member, and it has been both educational and enjoyable looking through the watches posted here. Any additional information that can get regarding the codes printed inside my watch would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Amazing. Just..... amazing - I LOVE THIS PICTURE. Do you still have the class ring too? I bet you still remember how proud you were to be wearing this watch.

Thanks so much Geoff ... I do still have the ring ... I just wish I still had the hair. I always thought that this Spaceview watch was the most amazing piece of futuristic technology. Now I realize that I seriously underestimated it.
