I don't have many day-date Accutrons so I don't know a lot about them but my guess,I repeat "guess", would be that the movement has been replaced with a quartz movement.  Bulova did that with some Accutrons that were sent back for service. Oliver will know when he gets here.

I have an Accuquartz in which the movement has been replaced with a factory quartz movement but it is not a day-date.

Also, there was a 247 movement in the watch,   which replaced the original 2182 decades ago. I'm having it restored with a 2812 movement to preserve its authenticity and restore it value. It was my father's watch.

Yep, that's it! Only the 230 Accutron mvt. had 2-letter Day wheels - for both the the women's and men's sub calibers. While the 230 service manual shows 3-letter Day wheels, they were never actually used by Bulova. If it doesn't hum and the second hand jumps, it has had the original mvt. replaced with a quartz. It is a beautiful and unusual watch and deserves the correct tuning fork mvt. Thanks for sharing.

More will be revealed as the watch is repaired/mvnt replaced as original.  The easiest way for me to deal with this now is a two tick tentative for now...
