hello i recieved this watch in a lot of a few others..i am almost positive that it is a martha washington..the dial is mint and the case is in great shape...it doesn't run although the staff is good and probably just needs a cleaning..i was going to make it my second ladies watch to work on after i complete a ladies hamilton that also came in this lot...i was wondering if anyone here would want to trade anything for it...i don't know what i am going to do with it...my wife isn't interested,so i figure someone here might want it.like i said it is just about mint..the lady who had it used it on a pendent pin to wear it..so i wasn't worn on a wrist where it could get beat up...but if anyone is intrested in it message me..i am not trying to retire on it so don't think that..i just don't want the thing to go to waste...here are some pics..i hope someone can enjoy it more than i can or has a GF or wife to give it toothe movement is a 17j 6az,which for some reason i can't find it now..
right i could swear that i have seen this watch advertised as a martha washington...maybe not here but on yahoo images...i couldn't even find other watches with this movement even though there are ladies watches with the same 6az,that didn't come up...anyway when i get a change i will the date code is 1938 which is the crestent moon...

I compared Ellierose's to what was in the data base and was identified as the "D" variant with the step.
I think part of "OUR" problem with the ads is that in the "old days" print copy was sold by the word, so to speak. So the more wording (including) model identification etc. the more costly the ad for the manufacturer.
OR.............. maybe they just didn't think it was necessary?
My challange when I go to look for ads, watch examples in database, etc...
When doing a search for 6AZ from mybulova.com watches- I also get no example in database. This search does not include unknown's which have been entered - even if those unknowns have a 6AZ. So there could be examples, we just can't query based on unknown model name.
I check mybulova.com movements page-and find no 6AZ entered. We already know this is not updated automatically on entry, and may or may not include unknown model names regardless of movement calibre. I' m not sure what this page includes now. It is not inclusive of what is out there, only (some) of what we have entered by individual watch in our database.
So Ellierose says "i couldn't even find other watches with this movement even though there are ladies watches with the same 6az,that didn't come up" - He is "sure" he saw one, and most likely did- for a short period of time. This is because they are in the databse of watches as unknowns, but cannot be queried. We get a chance to "see" the unknows as they are posted on "new and updated" watches list on the right side of most webpages, but after a short while, they dissapear off the bottom of this screen and are only available to admin and the person who posted the watch, until they get a model name field entered.
Am I correct here? Doesn't this make it difficult to imposible for the panel (or ohters) to go look at associated data of older unknows in database - let alone try to name them?
Ellierose notes mvnt datecode is 1938, but when I check outside source, I find the 6AZ was produced only in 1940, 17J -AND I question that source as all inclusive - that the 6AZ was only produced for one year.
Does anyone know the date range of production of 6AZ? I checked ePay atcive and closed. I checked Renttf, Dashto, etc... It may be based on the A-V 120 ebauch, as it's cited as having diff. charactoristics than the FHF 120's used in similar 6xx movements w/ larger production date range? and I don't have one laying around nor can access these data from this site as per above?
You can also search the entire site, including known and unknown models and posts, by clicking on "Search". A single field will appear allowing you to put in whatever search criteria you choose. That way, you can see if what you're looking for was ever discussed, even if not entered into the watch databases. For example, I just searched on "6AZ" and got this thread as the only result.

I agree that the most direct way to search the "Unknowns" is to enter the "Unknown" database through the "Help Idenfity an 'Unknown' Bulova Watch" link. HOWEVER, the general, whole site search does also pick up "Unknown" entries. I just confirmed that again by searching on "1910", which I knew had an entry in the "Unknown" DB. That entry did come up in the search results.
The general, whole site search also picks up entries in the movement database.
I have entered more new movements into the data base than I can count and have never had a delay or review on any of them. When I put a new one in the DB I always add a note/post with the date so I and others can see exactly when it was entered or discovered.
To my understanding, if the movement isn't in the data base and you do a search based on movement model it won't show up anywhere.
This is why I'm always "Harping" on members that post a watch with a movement that isn't covered by the DB to put it in! Otherwise it like a "Fart in a Thunderstorm"....
BTW, when I come across a new movement that I/we don't have I copy it to my hard drive for verification if needed.
