Recently acquired this one... a real Mystery! 1924 is a guess. Movement is 8 1/2 lignes, case is 18K non-Bulova. I found a post on NAWCC site about a similar Lady Maxim (no photo). The case was 14K gold filled, but had the same manufacturer's stamp. Is this a BULOVA, or was it made for another company by BULOVA??

Look what else I found, boys and girls! Same style of numbering as the subject watch, labeled a "Hudson Maxim" on the dial. Not in a Bulova or American Standard case, but running a Bulova movement. Mens' counterpart to the "Lady Maxim"? Legitimate Bulova, or . . . ?
Seems like the way we left this thread, all these models I'm posting would be allowed in the database as "early Bulovas"? Do we have any evidence that Bristol made cases for Bulova?

Several years later, and I still don't think we have "evidence" that Bristol made cases for Bulova, but we sure have lots more info on Lady Maxim, non-Bulova signed Am Std cases, etc.... Lots can change in a couple years, so its good we left this record in the watch database.
Admin. I clearly have read the description, I have clearly read your remarks, but explain to me why is it so hard to understand that in the "early days" to make ends meet all company's sold excess stock to other (in this case, watch) company's, who in turn produced a product using material not manufactured by themselves. It happened all the time, and I've got more than enough examples to prove it.
By you logic, would all movements that clearly are marked "Bulova Watch Co." but also are clearly marked "Favre Watch Co." on the same movement be Bulova or Favre??? You and I both know that Favre was producing watches almost two hundred years before Bulova. 1730 comes to mind, Bulova 1920's.
When all is said and done so to speak, I just can't understand why you and others are so quick to dig your heels into the sand and insist that the Maxim is a True Bulova when contradicting examples are put before you?
In reply to Admin. I clearly have read by simpletreasures
If everyone is happy with the notion that early Bulova watches do not belong on this site unless they are clearly stamped Bulova on the dial and movement then I am happy to remove the Lady Maxim from the listing and have all these watches removed from the database.
Could panel mambers and alike please have your say on defining what early Bulova watches we should classifiy as true Bulova watches and therefore include on this site.
