One of the first watches that I entered into the database over a year & a half ago was a 1966 17J White Gold Diamond dial that was unknown, it remained that way for a few months until one of our members, William (Scott) of Watchcrystals.net give it a ID as a Senator model through watch crystal spec's.
Every Senator crystal I tried just didn't fit opening right without some filing, and all were missing the "Diamond edge" like the original. After months of searching, I finally found the exact crystal for this watch which has a case number of 2687. The name on the packet is Excellency "D"
I also have aquired a couple more over the months including a Yellow Gold model, all 17J, all using a 11AL movement, all with a brushed silver dial sporting a real diamond at 3 & 9, all with the 2687 ink stamped case number, and all between 1966-67.
This should be enough proof to change this ID to the "Excellency" model, but I am not sure what the "D" would stand for?? Diamond dial, or model variant??...Thoughts welcome...

Nice!...,but the 'CLIPPER' is not a 'HIS EXCELLENCY'.
nor is this 'HIS EXCELLENCY POCKET WATCH' - 17Jewels.
...or the 'HIS EXCELLENCY DEEP SEA CHRONOGRAPH' - 17 Jewels
both N.O.S.
For some reason the late 1960's and early '70's Blue or White Hexagonal boxes all have 'EXCELLENCE COLLECTION' on the lid (a decal) - this does not indicate that the Watch inside is a 'HIS EXCELLENCY' model.
Not saying this watch is a "His Excellency" model, but a "Excellency" model...they dropped the "His" off of it when the changed their marketing campaign in the late 60's...Kind of like what the did with the jewel count on the "President"..21, then 17, then 23, and then 30.
There is a Bulova crystal catalog out there with factory Bulova crystal part numbers that fit the case numbers on the mid 60's on up cases with numbers either ink-stamped or machine stamped into the caseback. The part numbers are different than the numbers on the back...like this example...
I have been searching for one of these catalogs for a long time, but still haven't found one.
The model reference in the mid to late 60's aftermarket BB & GS catalogs use the factory part numbers as a interchange number, but list them as a model number like they do with the other brands.
Question?? Has anyone seen an "His Excellency" 1946-1959 with the Diamond edge crystal???, or one that the Diamond edge crystal might fit??

Old Ticker....maybe someone on site has a PDF version of this catalog and would be willing to share for non-commercial use? I don't have it, and you probably have the digital crystal catalogs I do have, but I can share mine w/ you. It's nice when we have the same tools in hand..and these catalogs are great tools.
