'OCEANOGRAPHER' "G"
Oceanographer yes, variant "G" I'm not 100% certain as the dial and second hand are different. They may have changed the variant.
Oceanographer 3 ticks
Oceanographer "G" 2 ticks
Is it just me or Bulova make a lot of fantastic watches in 1970? This was truely a great year for them.

Oh dear I love these things, this is a very nice example. Stephen, you're spot on, between 1970 and 1973 Bulova had a killer line up, think of all those Oceanographers, Chronographs, Sea Kings and Presidents! I have so many fine watches from those 4 glorious years.
This, I agree should come in as an Oceanographer G, I can live with the second hand, not sure I see anything different on the dial.
Thanks for posting this one Mike, welcome to the myBulova club, bring us more!

Hey Guys,
Thanks so much for the thoughtful comments and information. Yes, this is a great watch and I'd put it up there with many of the tool divers that I've owned over the years. One watch that I wish that I could find would be a Bulova Sea King I owned about fifteen years ago. It had a black dial that looked very much like an Explorer dial, with 12, 3, 6 and 9 aribic numeral markers, "Sea King" script and the little whale logo in white just above the 6 and a very simple case, much like an Omega Seamaster of the 1960's. It couldn't have been more than 34-36mm and the lugs were simple and straight, no fluting or extravagance. I've searched for one for some time and have found many Sea Kings, but never of this variant. I can't remember for sure if it had a date window at 3 o'clock or not. It had a screw down case back and a simple crown, that may or may not have had a Bulova logo, can't remember. Sure would love to have one again, so if anyone knows of one, please let me know and I'll be glad to relieve you of it post haste!!!
Thanks,
Mike
