I have been looking on the site and have traced it possibly to a 1944 War Ace. Would like to know more about it if possible.
14k gold case. 17 jewels
Curved Rose Gold Case. White Arabic numerals with black accents. The second hand appears on a sub dial totally obscuring the six.
During my college days I worked maintenance for my apartment complex. This watch was left behind as someone moved out. It sat in the Lost and Found for a couple of years and I had my eye on it the whole time. I really hoped the owner would pick it up as it’s a beautiful piece that needed a home. When i left college, a couple years later, it left with me and for the last 15 years, 3 moves, and 3 cities later, it’s been lost behind the back of a desk drawer. My wife found it the other day. Which has brought me here, hoping to get info from people much smarter than I am on the matter.
Hi Johnathan, welcome to mybulova. That is a really great watch, and solid gold as well! I love the personalization on the back. You appear to be correct in your evaluation, and that could very well be a correct period if not the original band. What a great find.

I inserted a 1943 ad in your description.
The only thing I have ever found behind desk or dresser drawers are dust bunnies................
One thing better than a great watch is a great story behind it.
These beauties deserve to be worn and appreciated, so I'm very happy that your wife found it and I hope that you wear it with some level of pride and satisfaction even though you were not able to find the original owner.
If it were me and in this age of the internet, I'd go searching for Dixie Boyd. It would give me no end of joy knowing that the watch returned home to its original owner. That would have a great ending to this wonderful story.
Thanks for adding your wonderful war time 1944 Bulova War Ace.

Here's the 'rest of the story' as found on that wonderful place we call the interweb:
Dixie (Dickson) Boyd was 56 years old when presented with this watch. At the time he had a wife (whose name I did not find) and at least three children, Ruth, Dickson and Eloise. I found an obituary for daughter Ruth which suggests that some of the family still live in the greater Dallas, Texas area. I bet they'd love to have this one back in the family!
