I just like the shape of these Commanders. I am guessing it is a Commander AQ. What do you all think? The dial, hands and crystal are really clean. The base metal case has some errosion and corrosion around the back and sides. I think I will buff out the defects then try replating it.

As a nubbie here, I am impressed with the resourcefulness you all have at finding these ads to ID watches. Are you all mostly relyig on the existing MyBulova database for the ads? I imagine a few of you hard core enthusiasts are combing newspaper databases to add to this sites database?

The idea this may be a Sea King seems like it might be a possibility if the face stripe is considered. Both used the same case. This watch, https://www.mybulova.com/watches/1973-unknown-10033 also a 1973 bears a face stripe and is string tagged as a Sea King. Maybe I'm adding 1+1 and getting 3 here, but the relatively uncommon face stripe might be a deciding factor?
Thoughts?
