Watch Description

The 1967 Accutron Astronaut Watch is a vintage timepiece produced by Bulova. It was part of Bulova's Accutron line, which was known for its pioneering electronic watch technology. The Accutron Astronaut was particularly popular among astronauts and pilots due to its accuracy and durability.

Featuring a distinctive and futuristic design, the Accutron Astronaut Watch had a stainless steel case with a rotating bezel and a black dial. It used a tuning fork mechanism to keep time, which was a breakthrough technology at the time. The tuning fork emitted a steady hum that drove the watch's hands, providing precise timekeeping.

The watch had a variety of features, including a date function, luminous hands and markers for visibility in low light conditions, and a hacking function that allowed the wearer to stop the second hand for synchronization. It was also water-resistant, making it suitable for outdoor activities.

Today, the 1967 Accutron Astronaut Watch is considered a collector's item, sought after by watch enthusiasts and vintage collectors. Its historical significance, unique design, and association with the space age make it a highly prized timepiece.

What is stamped on the back case? Is it 14 or 18K filled or sold gold?

Fantastic example that is for sure. Once we know a little more about the case we should be able to pin down the exact model variant.

Based on the dial configuration, I was able to find what looks to be a match for the 1967 Bulova Accutron Astronaut "J"

That awesome. It was a gift from an old neighbor here in Texas. He knew absolutely nothing about the watch. Great Timepiece indeed.
