Hi all! This watch was gifted to me. It has an unusual face in that the tuning fork symbol is not present. Any idea on model. I live near Providence RI where there was a plant, i believe. I think it is the one in the Ad, but there is no other info. Thanks for letting me know your thoughts!

I hate to say it but modern day jewelers have basically have no clue to what any vintage Accutron is and more chances to just denying service. I can help... John V. Time & Again [email protected]
The jeweler i dropped it off at said it was a 214. Should find another jeweler? The watch was working and then not working and then working again. He was listed as certified in Bulova watches but I’m nervous that he did not identify it correctly. Would the workings of each watch be vastly different? Need different parts?
Well, technically it IS a 214. The first Accutron movement Bulova made was labelled the 214 MOVEMENT. Watch models (there were dozens and dozens and dozens) that contained the 214 movement are instantly recognizable by the lack of a winding crown. The setting of the hands was done by the feature your watch has that could be called 'back set'. The 214 movement was replaced in the late 1960's early 1970's by the 218 style movement that is recognizable by having a winding crown at the 4PM location. With the aid of a stack of Bulova sales/marketing literature (a snip of which is added here) we can identify the watch down to the name and reference number (Model Name = Accutron '556' - Reference 25051-Y, the Y stands for Yellow gold).
