Came across this Bulova Music Watch box. Have never seen one before and really found nothing on the web similar to it. Probably from late 70s (or early 80s) . Marked "The Romantics"
Anyone knows anything about this box? I would very much appreciate whatever information that can be provided.
Thanks,
Vlad
You are correct in probablythe early 80's. I found this ad in 1983. Would have been a very nice gift in 1983. The watch should have a date code on the back of the case you can figure out the date here https://www.mybulova.com/bulova-date-codes
Thank you very much for the info.
The watch in the box is a single diamond version (the first one in the ad). Yes, the date code is P2 (1982) and that perfectly fits with ad above. I was unsure if the watch and the box came originally together - now I know that they did.
The watch still has the original price tag of $140. Looks like it was never worn at all.
Actually this is very very cool and after 13 years of myBulova.com, a first.
Nice work on the advert find Kathy!
Vlad, please consider adding your watch to the database at: https://www.mybulova.com/adding-your-watch-mybulovacom-database
I think we can safely say what the model name will be.
Very cool. What is the song that it plays? Here is a curious thought, "The Romantics" were a band in the late 70's and reached their peak in 1983 - 1984. It seems that the name would have been copyrighted by either Bulova or the band, unless it was a collaboration. I would check Google for "The Romantics" and see if you can figure out if the tune on the box is one of their songs.

It's an abstract outside the box long shot, but my brain sometimes works in mysterious ways.
"The original members of The Romantics—Wally Palmar, Jimmy Marinos, Mike Skill and Rich Cole—formally became a band on Valentine’s Day, 1977. Bred on the mean streets of Detroit’s east side, they were inspired by the British punk invasion and their hometown rock scene. Nearly 30 years later they are still known for having created some of the most influential and beloved rock and roll of all time."

Interesting idea about the Romantics, but somehow I don't thnk the music matches :)
Here's a link to pictures of the watch, tag, box, music box, and the 50 second sound clip of the actual music.
I do not know how to upload the music (*.wav) file, but please feel free to do with the pictures/music as you wish. (by the way, is there a way to upload, by today's standards, 'normal' size jpg files)
