Earlier today it read, "4", now it reads "5". I would have sworn that a few days ago it was "1". Who/what is controlling that, and what does it mean?
It's the ranking in the "Top Watch" website and looks at the site hits as well as the Star ratings that a site is given. I was surprised when it was '1' but I think that is because it was new. I guess it's slowly dropping as the other sites fight back to get their No.1 ranking back.
Hey, I'm happy with this ranking, considering I only added the site a week ago.
Keep those 5 Star rating coming in folks!!

Not that I encourage that sort of behaviour, but if you just so happen to randomly click links and find yourself accidently clicking that 5 star thingy....well....oops...
Every little bit helps in getting more awareness of the site and the useful information that it contains.
My guess is that if your not getting a number of ratings daily, your rating average drops off over time.
ie, a whole bunch of members cast our votes, rating went to 5. Now nobody's rating you and it's dropped off to 1.
I really don't think that should matter all that much, more and more folks are coming to the site all the time, word from members is getting around, slower, but far more effective.
