Watch Description

Just picked up this what for the life of me looks to be a 1939 Phantom with original bracelet.  What is very much throwing me off is the sub-seconds on the dial.  No other phantom I've seen has that. The dial looks to fit the case.  The seller has the case measuring:  1 & 1/8 x 13/16 which I think = 28.6 x 20.6  which might match the phantom minus lugs = No picture of the movement yet to confirm matching year and series.  The bracelet is definately period...  I dunno though... we don't have a Phantom as late as '39 I don't think.

Interesting Mark... I see your bezel is etched where this one is smooth.  Your back is also stainless while this one is gp.   Looks to be the same watch though... some non-mass produced using the left over Phantom cases maybe?

Must be a bit rarer though as we've seen what... 2 in the last how many years?  Lisa doesn't have one posted.... shrugs.

This looks similar to the President and Treasurer of that period.

Some had engraving next to the crystal some didn't.

Yeah I've had both of those and this guy doesn't seem remotely long enough to possibly be one of them I don't think?  But yeah... after the Phantom I thought maybe a Pres.... or Minute man... but this one doesn't seem to have the convex those 2 have.

The Case is much shorter than the late 1930's 'PRESIDENT', Jewels 17.  The Watch is definately the evolution of the 'PHANTOM', but was it named 'PHANTOM' ?

ad is 1936

Phantom's didn't have the sub minute dial I believe.

It's either a unengraved President version, an unknown or a Phantom case with a President dial.

President dial is seriously way to long for this case bro... hrrrrmmmm...

Phantom is shown in 1939 ads but it's engraved and has no sub seconds.  Can this be a Minute Man?

'MINUTE MAN' Case of era measures 42mm in length.

We now have 2 examples of this 'PHANTOM'  with subsiduary Seconds.

It seems very Phantom-esk, but I'm not ready to name it that yet. We're like 3 years off the last known ad. And that ad really doesn't match with the seconds register.

Hey Mark is this thing probably going to take a GS #: MX 374 24.4X15.5mm crystal?
