Just picked up this what for the life of me looks to be a 1939 Phantom with original bracelet. What is very much throwing me off is the sub-seconds on the dial. No other phantom I've seen has that. The dial looks to fit the case. The seller has the case measuring: 1 & 1/8 x 13/16 which I think = 28.6 x 20.6 which might match the phantom minus lugs = No picture of the movement yet to confirm matching year and series. The bracelet is definately period... I dunno though... we don't have a Phantom as late as '39 I don't think.
We can eliminate the Minute Man as it's a Tonneau shape.
It does appear to be a Phantom case. I wonder if the movement is a 7AP due to the sub-seconds.
We have several Presidents of this era, 36-38, in the DB listed as having both the 6AE, no sub-seconds and later the 7AP, w/ sub-seconds. Could the Phantom have also transitioned to the 7AP? The last ad we have for this style Phantom is dated to '39 and shows no sub-seconds though.
We have another ad for this model, but not as clear or with the variant, great find bud.
I remember a thread with these models in some where, and I seem to recall that the lugs were hooded.
I think this subject watch is a Phantom with a movement/dial change, possibly from a Brunswick. We never got a jewel count for this one, but all Phantoms have 17, the Brunswick 21.
Here are ads for Brunswick and Phantom variants, found by Jerin.
Forgot to mention, the Brunswick ad is 1939.
Here is the discussion, it was an Engineer. I now think the Engineer is also a marriage.
