PS: The watch is 21 jewel with a Speidel (patent #2,689,450) band, with my grandfather's initials, W S engraved on the rear. The band is rose gold on the front and stainless steel on the rear. The watch is "14k gold filled". The watch ran for only 10 minutes when I wound it slightly. I would like an opinion about its condition, judging from its appearance in the picture.
You have a 1945 Bulova President Model "F" found here, all the way to the right:
The condition looks to be ok. You need a crystal (glass) for the front or try to polish the scratches out. A good polish on the watch itself. We really can't see the whole watch to give you a probably condition on the metal, but it seems ok at first glance.
The band seems in ok shape, but doesn't really fit the watch's curves in my personal opinion. If it runs... that's great. It will absolutely need a good cleaning inside it's guts in order for it to keep ticking.
I recently purchased this same watch and have taken it to a repair lady. I know it needs a balance staff and half spring kit with balance wheel. I will place pictures and info on the site when I get it back. Mine has the original band and looks perfect. The dial is flawless as is the case and band and crystal. I have no history on the previous owner so I can only guess that it was some one who took very good care of it. You should enjoy yours as I will enjoy mine.
