Watch Description

I had been looking at this watch off and on for a few months thinking it was a Practitioner.  After purchasing the 1943 Service Watch ad it occurred to me that it might be the Clara Barton in the ad.  After talking to the seller and confirming it had an 8mm lug width like my other Clara Barton I decided to purchase it.  The back of the case is in poor condition but the rest of the watch is in pretty decent shape.

I am assuming it is 10K gold plate with a sterling base but it is no longer visible on the case to know for sure.  It only has service marks on the inside of the case.  On the back of the case it appears someone tried to remove an inscription so some of the text is missing.  It says Bulova Quality and the serial # only.  It has a working 7AM 17 jewel movement with a 1943 X date stamp.  Thanks for your time and input.

When I first started collecting I avoided watches with inscriptions.  Now I quite like them, especially if they have a name and date.

Great presentation Kathy. I agree about the inscriptions, they add an extra level of history and coolness to a watch.
