The hand engraving you note are watch makers service marks, typically only decipherable by the individual that made them.

I think you've nailed it. That looks so close other than the faceted crystal and the slight flairing out of where the band attaches. Maybe they alterered it between 1952 t0 1954. It was my grandfathers watch. My mother had it serviced and passed it down to me. It works great and I'm tickled to have it. Thanks so much for the help. It is intriguing as he was not a man of great means and in todays dollars it seems to translate to roughly $625. Again, thanks so much for your time, it is much appreciated.
