Im a little miffed with this watch, I managed to figure out the year L6 (1956)
but the rest doesn't seem to fit, the outside of case says Bulova 18k gold and L6
the inside of the case is not stamped just has various etch like markings which look like V2795yo-43
and then A VIII (roman numerals) 65F, and then what looks like C5-66F1?
Im basically wondering what model this watch is, it is not presently working and if its worth fixing
Thanks
Shelley Gregor
Hi Shelley, and welcome to mybulova. I think I found your watch. It's a real beauty! In the 1957 Bulova factory Linebook BAWDO132, I find this entry for Bulova First Lady.
Case is a match as are movement jewels and 18K gold. Face is slightly different, which is likely a difference between yellow (shown) and white gold. Every other First Lady variant is in a different shaped casing.
1956 First Lady "C" (stock #5354)
My opinion is it's worth fixing, it may just need to be serviced. In 1956 this watch cost $59.50. That is the equivalent of $566.78 in today's dollars.

The etched marks inside the case are jeweler's marks, kind of a signature of the watchmaker who worked on it. If the Roman marking is on the inside of the bezel, I suspect the "A VIII" is actually "R V III (R 5 3)" . Many times we see the first 2 or 3 characters of the case s/n hand engraved on the inside of the bezel to match it to the case back.
