Self-winding. Runs but loses time badly. "MG" on mvt. Looks like a "President" as in second 1964 ad but only 17 Jewels and doesn't have "Selfwinding" on dial.
'SEA KING' or 'DATE KING'
There will be an ad appear that shows this Watch as a 'PRESIDENT'
IMO this ad is a misprint, in 1965 the 'PRESIDENT' was a 30 Jewel Automatic with Date display.
I would lean toward 'SEA KING' in this instance due to the Watches Case back design.
please note the date and time of this post as I will not edit....can of worms now open.
I'm sorry Fifth but I'm going to have to disagree with you again on the premise that all Presidents of this era are 30J.
Take a look at the main ad we have at http://www.mybulova.com/sites/default/files/vintage_ads/Bulova_AD_1964_…
Inparticular the description.
The main watch in the ad had 30 Jewels on the dial....no brainer.....its the model 'K' and the description confirms the 30J,
The next one, model B, doesn't have 30 Jewels on the dial and the description does not mention how many jewels it has.
The third, model "E" , again no 30 Jewels on the dial and again no mention of 30 Jewels in the description.
The fourth, model "I", 30 Jewles on the dial and again the ad confirms it.
It seems to me that if they all were 30J, all the descriptions would say 30J as would the dial.
IMO, and I hope other agree with me, its very possible that model "B" and "E" are not 30 jewels but may well be 17, thus busting the myth that all Presidents of this era are 30J.
Compare the prices! The prices alone will tell you that the two cheapest are 17j. The 30 jewel watch in the three-some is $79.95. The unmarked dialed watches B $49.95 & E $39.95. Go figger, they charge more for the 12 extra Jewels. Hell of a nerve!
Watch E has the same format i the dial as the subject watch.
CORRECTION: Watch B has the same format dial, but the hands differ from the subject watch.
Wayne,
The retail price differences can be attributed to Case Metal composition.
14K.
Gold Filled (?)
Stainless Steel.
This 1964 Life Magazine ad announces 39 Automatic w Date models to choose from, all are not the 'PRESIDENT' line.
only a 'top of the line' 30 Jewel automatic with Date would be the 'PRESIDENT' model.
In reply to Wayne, The retail price by FifthAvenueRes…
Possibly true, but that's not to say that 'all' President models are 30 Jewles. Can we please agree on this fact and move on as its holding up correctly IDing models.
Read the description again....it neglects to say anything about jewel count on those not marked 30.
As far as I'm concerned , if its not marked '30 Jewels' chances are it isn't a 30 Jewel movement.
I fail to see what the above ad has anything to do with the arguement about the Jewel count.
