Very nice watch i picked this up at a local Goodwill store for 5 bucks :-))
Two ticks from me for Diamond Excellecy "E". Ad states "available in yellow or white" and each could have a different variant letter based on gold color. This in pretty common in this time period. The Diamond Excellency series does not appear in the Spring 1964 model lists (or earlier), suggesting this series may not have come out until after 1964 (or at least not with this Diamond Excellency" model series name).
Hello ,
I'd like to ask you all for help and please excuse if I make mistakes, I'm not familiar with forums and English is not my mother tongue.
I have a watch that looks just like that one at the beginning of this conversation, only white (silvery). It is very dear to me because I got it from my Granny. It works ok, I think, but it is a bit dirty and old looking and slightly pinchy on the bracelet.
I took it to the shop for cleaning and / or fixing and they are asking for over a 100 € for service (?). Somebody at the beginning said that this watch is only worth about 5$ so I was thinking of just opening and cleaning it myself and polishing the bracelet so I can still wear it even if only as a piece of jewellery. Would that be ok or should I save some money and try to have it professionaly cleaned one day? I'd really like to wear it immediately...
Thanks.
V.
The $5 was what the owner 'amazingly' bought this beautiful watch for and not anywhere near its true value.
I would strongly recommend having it serviced by a professional and then wearing it as much as you can to get maximum enjoyment and value.
If you have no experience servicing watches then I'd say don't touch it and let a professional do it for you. You'll be much happier that you did.
Hopefully one of the sites experienced members can suggest a good (reasonably priced) member to service it for you.
Please consider adding it to the site as a record for others and to show off the watch.

Oh I see. No, I have absolutely no idea about watches. I just wanted to shine it up a bit and smooth the sharp edges, and the glass is all foggy... At least I know not to touch it :-). Thank you so much for that information. I live in Germany so I don't know if anyone would be able to help. I waned to post a photo but failed. I don't know is it my tablet or I just didn't do it correctly. Thanks again!
