Hello to everyone who will look at this watch,
I have been looking for the year this watch was manufactured and it's name, I have not been able to find anything.( The year posted is due to the symbol on the watch movement and its corresponding year, but I'm still not quite sure if that is correct) If anyone has information on this watch or can lead me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Hi Oniade. I'm not a panel member, just a Bulova enthusiast, but your watch is not a 1948 model. According to the movement data base on here the 5AT movement was only made in 1968 and it's listed as a 23 jewel movement. Look on the case back and see if you see "M8" or "M9" stamped on it. It looks like possibly the 1968 or 1969 "Leading Lady" model to me. I haven't figured out how to post pictures on here yet, but maybe this will give the panel members a head start in making a positive ID of your watch. It looks to be in great shape.
Spot on with the Leading Lady ID, and this one looks to have the original band, which matches this 1966 ad. There are a couple of other ads ( 1966 1967 ) that look similar - with variants, but not very clear. Will need to know what the date code is to give it a proper date; should be a two-digit starting with M# on the caseback; not clear in the provided photo.

Wish we could get confirmation on movement date code. The movement database indicates a start date of 1968 for 5AT movements, but that could simply be the earliest example in the watch database. I've stretched the subject watch movement photo from here to eternity, and can't get any stamping info out of it. Didn't check Dr Ranfft's database yet.
I'm good with 1968 Leading Lady

Despite the invention of the Incabloc Shock mount in 1934, shock protection did not come into widespread use until the 50's. This watch has the KIF Flector shock mount.

Actually Charles Depollier, well known case maker used by Waltham patented and marketed the Brun shock absorber system in 1922, long before incabloc.
