Watch Description

Recently came upon this Bulova ladies wristwatch.  I'm trying to get more info and maybe value of the piece.  I cannot find another one like it anywhere!  I have learned a few things about the piece:

It is marked Bulova on the face

On the back it is marked "Bulova 14K Gold" and "L5" which I have learned notes the year it was made which was 1955

Each link of the bracelet says "Speidel USA".

There are 4 diamonds.

Inside says "5AD" and "17 Jewels". I would really appreciate any info if anyone knows more about this piece.

Are you sure it's 7 and not 17 jewels?

details, details....  Maybe that's why it only has three tentative votes. :)   ...and the the owner did state there were seven diamonds in the additional information field....those are jewels....

I think the 7j was because it hasn't been opened yet. Can the default jewel count be changed to "Unknown?

Something like that needs to happen.  I once did a search looking for watches with 7 jewels.  Of course, I got a bunch of crazy results, where the jewel count just hadn't been entered or updated after that field was added.  Makes the jewel count search kinda useless.  If it's not going to be a mandatory field, then unknown or N/A should be the default and a selectable option.

"Unknown" isn't an option. I'm going to try to take the piece to a local jeweler tomorrow to have it opened.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have now added 'Unknown' to the selection list and also removed the mandatory requirement.

clbailey, take your camera and get some pics on the macro setting if you can. Take a bunch at different angles and you shoud get some good shots.

DarHin,

How do I set the camera to Macro settings?  Sorry, not familiar with this. I can't get a good close pic because it keeps getting blurry on me.

Thanks Stephen. As Lisa pointed out it should help with searches. I know Will has been going through the db and asking posters to update their watch info. Thanks Will.
