10K White Gold Rolled Plate ; Dial Markers are raised and white( WGRP?) ; entire case length from lugend to lugend is 25.3mm ; width including crown is 16mm, without crown 14mm ; Blue Steel hands ; Case inside is marked 'Bulova Fifth Ave New York' ; movement works and keeps good time ; My opinion, perfect match in 1959 'Dolly Madison' from 1950's-p5-ad10 but I'll await and defer to the panel's judgement
Thanks for the reply jabs
I was referring to this ad (EDIT - can't link or paste properly)
My 'DM' and the 'DM' in my ad has a more defined letter 'V' lug design with a recessed area in between the 'V' arms. Yours has a flatter lug. The main case body is the same.
EDIT: I can't seem to link to a specific ad nor can I copy/cut&paste it ...grrr...any help?
Yes, I see a Dolly Madison model too.
It's interesting to me that Bulova named so many watches with proper names but just a select few after historical people, and more women than men. Among them I found Betsy Ross, Clara Barton, Cleopatra, Jane Addams, Martha Washington and in an apparent nod to the Canadians, Princess Pat (Princess Patricia of Connaught). I found four Bulova watches named after historical men, Charles Lindbergh (the Lone Eagle), Beau Brummell, Doug Corrigan and Dolley's husband PRESIDENT Madison. (The correct spelling is Dolley.) Her husband President James Madison is known as the father of the Constitution of the United States of America, having been the chief recorder at the convention at which it was drafted . To further strengthen his claim to the title, he also introduced the first amendments to the document which collectively are called the Bill of Rights. James and Dolley may well have been the first American power couple, many have suggested that his rise to power was well advanced by her personality. Mr Anderson (Andersok) would also expect me to mention that they, like many of the 'founding fathers' were Virginians.
Sorry plees1 for hijacking your watch thread, I'm a bit of a history buff.
