Bezel is verticaly engraved all the way down to end of lugs. Raised gilt hash marks for numerals and black tracks. Case is shaped like the American Clippers but not as long. Tracks follow the shape of case. Case back is marked Bulova O and is gold plated and is hinged. Missing hands but sub sec hand is there and tells me watch is running. I think it may have had stick hands but am not sure. As always watch has been cleaned and oiled. Once it has been identified I will know what type of hands to put on it.
I just looked at a 1934 Hancock on our site and it is identical to my watch but no engraving. Everything else is the same, and it is stepped just like mine?? Is it possible that in 1935 they offered the Hancock with engraving as an upgrade to customers?? Or, is it possible that the Commander had a step that was not well defined in the ad just as it was not well defined in the Hancock ad.

That Hancock sure looks like yours... Good point.
So what do you think now?? Mark, is there a precedent for engraving being an option for upgrade on a watch in it's second year of production to maybe boost sales or just offer a fancier watch??
Call me a flip flopper but I would have to vote for an engraved version of the Hancock in light of this new ad info. As Will says, it sure looks like my watch. There is also the possibility that the Commander has a step not shown in the ad just as there wasn't one shown in the Hancock but the dial issue sure makes it look like an upgraded engraved Hancock.
