Watch Description

This is I believe a Rocket from 1945.  I got it for the crystal to put on my Military Miss but after seeing the Rocket ad I think it is a nice addition to my growing 1940s collection.  It is 14K rose gold filled but it is pretty worn.  The face is in decent shape and the movement is running.

Update:  Changing this to a Ladies watch after finding an ad verifying that detail.

Nice collection! I'm not sure, this is pure speculation on my part, but the Rocket could have been a "youth watch" for boys , like the Sport. Same case that was big for a woman's watch and small for a mens of the time period.

Thanks!  That would make perfect sense to me.  The Military Miss and American/Canadian Nurse being a bit bigger than the norm makes sense too.  I probably have a boys size wrist and they fit nicely on me, a little smaller than the one mens watch I have.

Hey Bob,  I found this ad for the Rocket.  Seems like a weird name for a ladies watch but I guess it was.  And looks like it had at least three dials so probably had variants.

Well, that's a surprise. Excellent ad finds, keep going! Interesting that it is refered to as a "sport" watch. Maybe that is the deciding factor for the larger than normal size for a women's watch of this period. It's for physical activity (like a man.....) as opposed to "housewife-ing it". No offense intended, it's the way society was in the 1940's :o)  Sooner or later an ad will materialize giving variants!
