Watch Description

1951 21 j 10bm model. The only crystal to fit is a CMY 312-6 for an Academy Award Model. The case is all 10k gold filled. The date, case, 21j movement and crystal all suggest it may be an academy, we know there are plain dial varients around. I can find no adverts for this model or hardly any other models the same as. So any ideas? Excellency or Academy are the two front runners at present!

Thanks DarHin and JP.  I think I got it now.  There are several crystals listed in these last couple comments.  The catalogs say that most are listed for an AA YY only.  Greg's crystal says AA.  ...and all these crystals "fit" subject watch.
That's enough for me to change to an AA vote.  Thanks for walking me through this one!

Given the discussions I would have to concour with Unknown until an ad is found. Crystal specs and a display case just don't cut it for me. If it is an AA, it's clearly a unidentified variant. Best I would do is " Unconfirmed" AA.

Shawn,  how many watches have we confirmed as generic with just crystal specs?? In this case we have irrifutable proof comming from three different crystal catalogs that the only watch the crystal fits is the AA YY. I will agree with the lack of an advert showing the dial and hands limits the choice to a generic AA but that at the very least.

My final answer is generic AA based on the nice pile of catalog evidence.

Hey John,

I'm good with unconfirmed AA,   but that's as far as I would be willing to go. JMO, I'm certain that down the road we'll see the proof and get the variant extension too. Until then................

OK my friend. I am sticking with generic AA for my vote.

I'ts hard to count up the vote w/ the changes.  I'll try.

As best as I can tell.

No need for apologies Gary, it's fairly obvious from the evidence that Your Watch is a part of the 'AA' series.

I'm still at two ticks tentative for this one...  Still no ad?  ...ID based on three seperate crystal specs which "are not listed as any other model" however thats a different statement than saying "doesn't fit any other model".
