Bulova 23 OR Regatta 23? I don't see any advert matching this one exactly, both seem possible. The Regattas are advertised with 'florentine dial' which this watch seems to have. I wondered if the word 'waterproof' indicated Regatta but they all seem to say 'self winding'. I'm torn.
It does look like the outer ring on the dial might have been gilded at some time.you can still see a little bit of the gold color remaining.I also thought it might be a Regatta 23 but just went with a generic "23".When did they go from waterproof to water resistant? The back also has waterproof on it.I'm starting to think all my watches are weird.
We could certainly narrow it down to a few variants based on $59.95 price in ad, and (Blk) dial color given, but its not a short list from which to chose. Spring 1964 Bulova Price List cumulative section for Regatta 23's. There's 8 non-black dialed $59.95 variants listed, so this doesn't help too much. I'd say it's not one of the other variants listed :)
