What year is this dual dial Doctor's?

21 Jewel, 7AP

This thing is so sweet... I would love to have it for my own, but as it's already at $71 with over 4 days left on the auction I'm assuming it's going to skyrocket.

I think I make out the Square Shield on the movement?  Maybe... whose got better eyes?  Isn't that a 1930's crown?

Anyway I'm thinking we need to put this bad boy in the watch list after we figure out the year... and one of you needs to buy it so we can enjoy it foreber rather than it be in some dudes collection who doesn't post here!  haha....

For the tinkerers and watchmakers: Problematic movements

Just throwing this one out there to see if there is any general agreement.

What do you find is the most problematic Bulova movement?

I'll start off by saying I always have trouble with 8ac/8ae movements, always have balance problems and hair spring problems. I have 3 here that all have the same problem and they always seem to be a pain in the rear!

So how do we feel about Westfields?

Obviously they are Bulova movements/watches stamped Westfield on the case.... the reasoning it seems after looking at it on the interweb was this explaination someone gave?

"Westfield was a hybrid Bulova designed to take advantage of an import duty/tax loophole: Bulova (Switzerland) movements with USA Cases, assembled in the USA. Very high quality, very stylish..and currently very undervalued."

I saw this the other day while searching for Lone Eagles. In the description the seller said the case had a patten number dated to 1924. So I send him an email asking how could it be 24 when the flight didn't happen untill 27?  He tells me that this is one of the original 5000 watches issued. After the the first issue the cases had a patten date of 1927. What do you think boys? http://www.rubylane.com/item/384376-3811/First-Release-Bulova-Lindbergh-Lone
